UN Women Deputy Executive Director Åsa Regnér visits Nigeria to Review The UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women

UN Women Deputy Executive Director, Asa Regnar, paid a visit to Junior secondary school Apo Resettlement, Abuja on the 23rd of October 2019 to interact with the beneficiaries of the SOAR Initiative Project, funded by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women and Girls in Wumba and Dutse community, both in Apo District, Abuja

The high key event featured the attendance of important dignitaries which included Mrs Comfort Lamptey, the UN Women Nigeria country representative; Mrs Chinyere Eyoh, Executive Director of SOAR Initiative

The event featured various activities which included a dance presentation by the students of Junior secondary school Apo resettlement and individual presentations of girls that had their lives impacted by the project under SOAR Initiative.

In her speech, Ms. Regnar said “It is the grown up world which teaches boys and girls negative attitudes that promotes gender-based violence”.

It was a smooth, tear jerking event in which Mrs Asa Regnar was well received and appreciated. The students from schools and communities under the project and participants had a fun filled day in which they were excited and impacted greatly.
