COMMUNITY MEETING IN PROJECT COMMUNITIES -APO, ABUJA

The Community program held on 4th August for Wumba community and 11th August for Dutse community, 2018 which was to raise awareness about child sexual abuse in both communities, and also mobilize the community for a successful implementation of the ongoing project in the community ‘Mobilizing communities to end violence against girls’. The program was divided into three sessions, the road walk which was to raise awareness about child sexual abuse and further inform the people about the community meeting, the  community meeting in which the CCPC members where present and the free medical testing amongst other activities that took place during the event.

THE ROAD SHOW

The Road Show which lasted for one hour started at 9:17AM with an involvement of the community band provided by a church in the community. The rally drew the attention of the community people and with the fliers that were distributed including verbal communication, the community people became interested in the organization and also more informed about the community meeting that would hold later that day.

 

THE COMMUNITY MEETING

The meeting commenced at about 10:15am with an opening prayer by a member of the community after which the sensitization talk was given by the Executive Director of the Organization, Mrs. Chinyere Eyoh, Mr. Umar Jubril from FCT Social Development Secretariat, Mrs. Rashida Apakhade from FCT Education Secretariat, Mrs. Aisha Yusuf from Abuja Municipal Area Council, Mr. Kolawole Olatosimi from Child and Youth Protection Foundation (CYPF), and the CCPC executives.

THE FREE MEDICAL TESTING

A free malaria testing, malaria drugs, free vitamin A supplement and deworming drugs was given out during the event. Free birth certificate registration was also conducted for the both communities.
